How do I resize pictures for Instagram?
Slibstream wont let you resize images for Instagram or change any of your Instagram content within your Instagram account. Slibstream displays the Instagram photos that you currently have in your Instagram account. Instagram displays square photos, so if your taking a photo ensure the best part of the photo is visible from the center. Once you’ve uploaded your photo to your Instagram account, Slibstream will display a live link to that photo.
There are lots of third party tools if you would like to modify your photos before you upload them to Instagram. GIMP – GNU Image Manipulation Program is a free photo enhancement tool and it works on Apple and Windows machines.
How should I resize images for Instagram before I upload them?
The official Instagram apps (available for Apple and Android devices) allow you to resize, position and adjust your photo within the app on your mobile or tablet before you upload it to Instagram. 1024px (width) x 1024px (height) is a good size dimension to upload to Instagram. During our Slibstream web app testing, we noticed that Instagram re-saves all images that are uploaded and in doing so Instagram also compresses (optimises) each image to make it download faster for users. Images uploaded are converted into no transparent bakground .jpg files. This means you shouldn’t worry about uploading larger dimension or heavy file size photos because Instagram will handle these appropriately to ensure they load quickly for mobile (3G/4G) and laptop (WiFi) users. Slibstream does not currently handle non-square media. The Instagram API displays a maximum media size of:
- Instagram Image (Photo) Size: 612px x 612px
- Instagram Video Size: 640px x 640px
The Instagram photo API handles photos this way

Where can I find an Instagram photo booth template or artwork template?
Slibstream doesn’t have an official artwork guide. We recommend that if you plan on using custom graphic as your digital photo frame backdrop that you don’t use an image file larger than 1MB (files this size are usually less than 2000px wide and 2000px tall). Large files will cause your Instagram photo frame to load slowly, which my impair your user experience (UX). Therefore we recommend that you keep your file size to a minimum. You may upload .jpg and .png file types for your frame artwork.

Is it possible to change the Instagram picture frame size?
Unfortunately, we auto-size your Instagram frame and photos contained within it to match the size of your web browser. Taking control of sizing using CSS media queries ensures our web app works for all users “out the box” without relying on special software of firmware.
If you would like to control the size of your photos within your Instagram picture frame there are 3 ways to do this:
Option 1. Change the number of photos visible within the frame
It is possible to change the number of photos that appear within your Instagram frame. The more photos you choose the smaller each photo becomes because there is a finite amount of onscreen. Choose from 1,2 or 3 photos at one time or 2×2, 3×2 or 3×3 photo grid containing your Instagram photos.
Choose your preferred number of photos to display on screen inside your photo frame by navigating to:
My Slibstreams >> Frames >> Maximum number of photos to display
Option 2. Change the amount of space around each of your photos
It is possible to change the space (referred to as Margin) around each photo. The greater the margin, the smaller your Instagram photo(s) will become.
My Slibstreams >> Frames >> Minimum spacing top and bottom of photo(s) AND/OR Minimum spacing left and right of photo(s)
Option 3. Manually resize your web browser window
If you resize your web browser window size your Instagram photos will automatically scale to the new browser window size.
Slibstream works on modern website browsers such as: Safari, Chrome, Edge (Formerly Internet Explorer) and Firefox. If you experience a technical difficulty please suggest a Slibstream improvement and we will address performance issues. You can see what improvements we’ve made on our Change Log page.
